Expert Apps Weekly Clinic Summary 16th September 2020

Apple Hogs the Limelight, Countdown Timers and Checking your Junk (Folder)!

Thanks for coming along to the clinic today. Liam arrived first and left last….Darren arrived last and left first…and I walked into a closed door off camera! Just the standard clinic this week!

Anyway, let’s get on with this week’s updates as we’ve had a busy week creating more and fixing less!

The Need for Speed:

We’ve managed to make some great speed improvements with the app this week to the point where we’ve managed to get the app loading speeds down to an average of between 2 and 3 seconds.

I’m sure you’ll all agree that quicker is better in the app world so this will lead to an improved all-round experience for all your users and clients.

Watch Apple take a Bite:

Apple have been launching products again this week. As we all know they don’t tend to do that quietly these days they’ve side-tracked us a wee bit with getting the SSL certificates and security sorted for the web version release of the app.

Remember to check your email today as all the links should be with you for your own desktop version by 3pm today (16th September). Don’t forget to double check your junk mail folder! We got a few issues with the design and visuals too so we’re working hard to get them sorted for you.

The iOS 14 release in a few weeks will have no impact on your app so don’t worry. We’ve made sure ahead of time that we’re 100% compatible – we like to stay at least 1 step ahead of the curve!

Changes are a Footer:

We mentioned being able to update and change your footer text and icons last week and just to let you know that this will be migrated into everyone’s account in the coming weeks.

Can I Pay you, Pal?

Having PayPal integrated into your app will give you the massive advantage of being able to accept payments for subscriptions and membership packages.

Liam has created a video that should be available in the lab today that will show you exactly how to incorporate the payment provider into your app. You can visit the lab here https://lab.expertapps.online/

Hat’s off to Richard Whiteley:

Another new feature we’re adding to the Expert Apps arsenal is the Countdown Timer (did anyone else ever think that the Channel 4 “Countdown” clock actually counted up and not down? No? just me then!).

This will be a great interactive feature that can be used in all sorts of different ways. Use it to countdown to upcoming events, new content releases, live videos and much more. How can you utilise this urgency creating feature in your app?

Form Elements:

We talk a lot about form elements because we know how powerful and engaging, they can be within your app. Think about how you can use the 0-10 bar within your app and create live and interactive experiences for your users dependent on their responses.

It really is a powerful, personalisation tool that can help you achieve amazing engagement rates.

Launch Strategy:

I’ve been spending a lot of time recently helping new app licence holders with their launch strategies with some amazing results and success.

If you’d like to work directly with me on a launch (or even a re-launch) then get in touch for more information. I may even look to hold a workshop on app launch strategies if there’s enough interest so let us know if you think it would be beneficial for you and your growth.

Hot in the Press:

We’re always proud to see our clients mentioned in the press as it shows we can achieve newsworthy results when we work hard together. Congratulations to the teams at Dance Life and Ambition Growth Network for all their ongoing success that’s being recognised.

Check out the replay (in the app area) where Darren talks about an exciting app that being released in the very near future using the Expert Apps platform and technology. The app – and the story behind it may well get national press coverage which will be great for everyone.

NEVER be afraid of approaching local newspapers and news outlets to talk about your journey and your brand and business success. Local news has an amazing ability to scale very quickly these days and ‘starting’ small can often have big results.

Junk Email Folder:

Remember that dark place where all your emails about lottery winnings, “dysfunctions” and miracle hair growth formulas always go? Remember to check in there just to make sure you haven’t got anything from the Expert Apps team in there that you’re waiting for. Then whitelist our email address too!

See you next week!

The Help facility on the Expert Apps website https://expertapps.online/ (bottom right hand corner of all the pages) can help with answering a lot of our most Frequently Asked Questions. If we don’t have an answer for you there and then we’ll give you more ways to contact us so that we can help you as quickly as possible.

If you love something tell us – if you hate something tell us that too! Hit reply and spill the beans!

We hope these updates give you great value and allow us to give a valuable insight into what we’re doing as a business to help you as much as we can.

If you have anything that you’d like more clarity on, or a particular subject you’d like Darren or Liam to talk about at the next clinic then just let us know.

The Clinics are held every Wednesday at 2pm and usually last about 30 minutes or so depending on how chatty Darren is feeling. Make a date in your diary and we’ll see you then!

If you missed last weeks update…..you know what to do…
